DC Universe was launched in September of 2018 with original programming that we have been enjoying. From Titans to Harley Quinn and Swamp Thing, there is something for all DC Fans on the platform.

This morning it was announced that Doom Patrol, heavily influenced by the Grant Morrison run on the team, has been renewed for a second season that will stream simultaneously for users on the DC Universe service as well as the upcoming HBO Max service from Warner Brothers.

This isn’t the first cross-platform streaming announcement from DC in the past couple of weeks. Geoff John’s Stargirl is following the same model by tapping into the Arrowverse hype by streaming on both DC Universe and the CW service, home to Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Arrow (RIP) and superhero show Black Lightning.

The fan-favorite misfits of Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero - “Orange is the New Black”) Cliff Steele/Robotman (Brendan Fraser - “The Mummy”), Larry Trainer/Negative Man (Matt Bomer - “American Horror Story”) Rita Farr/Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby - “Two and a Half Men”) and Vic Stone/Cyborg (Joivan Wade - “Doctor Who”) return in the second season of DOOM PATROL on DC UNIVERSE, with new episodes debuting every Thursday.

For those unfamiliar with the team, consider Doom Patrol to be closer to an X-Factor analog than X-Men, albeit the TV show does get darker than your usual tights and capes fare. Recommended if you like Umbrella Academy and The Boys.

DOOM PATROL, is set to premiere on the digital service on Thursday, June 25.

Following the defeat of Mr. Nobody (Alan Tudyk - “Harley Quinn”), the members of the Doom Patrol find themselves shrunken and stranded on Cliff’s toy race car track. Here they begin to deal with their feelings of betrayal by Niles Caulder aka The Chief (Timothy Dalton - “Hot Fuzz”), while confronting their own personal baggage. As each member faces the challenge of growing beyond their own past traumatic experiences, they must come together to embrace and protect the newest member of the family: Dorothy Spinner (Abigail Shapiro - “Broadway Kids Against Bullying: I Have a Voice”), Niles’ daughter, whose powers remain a mysterious but real threat to bringing on the end of the world.
