Thu 1/24 - BostonTalks: Villains at WGBH Studios featuring Matt Dursin and So Many More!

BostonTalks: Villains: We love to hate villains, but entertainment certainly wouldn’t be the same without them. They are the necessary evil that defines every hero, but what exactly is a villain? Hear from a TV critic, an academic and a comic book writer for a night all about villains.

One of the speakers is our very own Matt Dursin (LeaguePodcast, Robin Hood Outlaw of the 21st Century comic book)!

Thu 11/1 - The Memory Palace at Arts at The Armory (Somerville)

The Memory Palace tells short, surprising stories from the dustier corners of American history, set to music. They're sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes hysterical, and often a bit of both. The podcast is part of the Radiotopia network along with shows like 99% Invisible and Criminal and airs on NPR's Weekend Edition.

Its host and creator, Nate DiMeo is a journalist, television writer, and an author of an actual book written by a fictional character (Leslie Knope of Parks and Recreation).

Wed 3/1 - NoSleep Podcast at Middle East Downstairs

The “NoSleep Podcast”, which was born from a popular Reddit.com forum, began as a place for people to post first-person stories about frightening experiences. The forum was an online version of telling spooky stories around the campfire. As it rapidly gained readership, David Cummings (host and producer) came up with the idea of turning it into a podcast.

Five years in, the award-winning “NoSleep Podcast” has evolved into one of the biggest digital horror brands in the world, with over 18 million downloads, averaging at 275,000 downloads per week, along with a 5-star rating on iTunes. As Cummings puts it, “it’s not what you see, it’s what you don’t see that’s scary”. Cumming’s deep, haunting voice brings the stories and characters to life in this live recording – making you feel as if you’re experiencing the environment and horror first hand. The podcast was titled as USA Today’s “Summer Scare” and reaped praise from the AV Club as “enjoyably creepy and consistently interesting”. The podcast’s devoted cult following brings a wide range of listeners looking for a scare.
